FAQ: We’ve Got You Covered
I’m completely new to weaving. Where should I start?
Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here. We recommend starting with our NWOTB Beginner Weaving Kit—it includes everything you need to make your first wall hanging, plus a simple loom to get you started. We’ve also got easy-to-follow guides to help along the way.
What’s the difference between all the looms you offer?
Great question! The looms vary in size and features. Smaller looms like The Wee One are perfect for beginners and smaller projects, while larger looms like Bonza or The Epic are designed for big, bold weaves. Most looms have legs for comfort, and are adjustable. Each one is crafted with care by my dad, Paul. To learn more about each loom, see our Choose Your Loom section.
How do I choose the right warp thread?
Warp thread is what holds your weave together, so it’s important to choose something strong and non-stretchy. Cotton or linen is best. The thickness (or weight) you choose depends on the look you’re going for—thinner for fine details, thicker for chunkier designs.
Do I really need all these tools to start weaving?
Not necessarily! You can start simple with just a loom, warp thread, and a shuttle. But as you grow more confident, tools like the heddle, comb, and shed stick will make your weaving faster and easier, and help you create more complex designs.
Can I buy the looms and tools separately?
Absolutely. While we offer kits with everything bundled together, you can also purchase looms and tools individually. This lets you build your toolkit as you grow and try new things.
How are your looms and tools made?
All of our looms and tools are designed by me (Michelle) and handcrafted by my dad, Paul, right here in Canada. We use natural maple wood and pay attention to every detail, so each piece feels special and built to last.
